Post Fallout 3: Point Lookout expansion (PC)
Of all of the Fallout 3 expansions, Point Lookout offers the most new content and one of the best new environments, aside from the amazing The Pitt, but even cooler than the nice Mothership Zeta. But unlike both of those expansions, Point Lookout takes you to a new map which is another entirely open ended adventure, feeling like a separate, mini-Fallout 3. It's the truest expansion the game has to offer, and is pretty righteous.

This being said, it also suffers huge, ominous drawbacks. The main problem is it is the buggiest DLC. I don't mean it's just a little buggy here and there, I mean it completely freezes and requires a whole restart of the game. This is a regular occurrence in Fallout 3, happening often enough to drive any gamer into fits of rage. But in Point Lookout, it is consistent. After two or three hours of playing the expansion with no problems, I ran into a gigantic invisible wall of crashes and freezes. The expansion is now rendered unplayable, freezing literally every 5 minutes. That might even be an understatement. The game is literally worthless at this point, making all of this exceptionally beautiful and expansive new content useless and unable to be experienced due to huge freezes and soul-crushing crashes.

This mega-bug was present in the very first release of Point Lookout as downloadable content in its original form. It was said, by Bethesda, after their long denials of any problems with this particular expansion and finally coming around to admit that they indeed fucked up and dropped the ball, that they would fix this with patches and it would be fixed on the Game of the Year Edition.

It is not fixed on the Game of the Year Edition. The megabug remains, Point Lookout, in all its beautiful, graphical and new content glory, is pretty much worthless and a waste of effort and time on the part of the developers, because Bethesda overlooked smooth code and mindful programming in favor of delightful content. Well, delightful content isn't very delightful when it can't be played.

As an expansion to an already existing game, which changes none of the graphics, gameplay, or sound, I won't rate those.

Concept: 8/10
Execution: 4/10
Overall: 1/10 (once the point is reached where it becomes unplayable)
